In western Niger, near the border with Burkina Faso & Mali, there is a state of unrest and hardship. People are attacked by terrorist groups and are forced to flee, while climate extremes endanger their livelihoods, and now COVID-19 is also impacting on their lives. In this project, Welthungerhilfe is supporting the poorest and most vulnerable people in the area with cash payments for groceries, special food for infants, and veterinary care for their remaining livestock. Welthungerhilfe is also providing information about COVID-19, securing access to safe water, and distributing hygiene kits.
