Much of Niger lacks basic infrastructure such as roads and water supply systems. It has no digital infrastructure to speak of either, although, to a certain extent, this kind of network is cheaper to establish and also opens up new ways for Welthungerhilfe to reach people. In this project, key contact persons—such as seed producers or village representatives trained in disaster risk reduction—are equipped with, and trained to use, mobile equipment and apps that provide information about topics such as food availability.
