Emergency Aid for Farmers, Refugees, and Livestock Breeders
Farmers and livestock breeders in western Niger have to endure the region’s unfavourable climatic conditions. They also face the threat of displacement by armed groups. Welthungerhilfe is providing emergency aid in the districts of Ayorou, Banibangou, and Tillabéri. It is delivered to refugees, returnees, and IDPs, as well as to herders and farmers from host communities. These aid measures include cash transfers and a cash-for-work programme; training in nutrition, agriculture, and hygiene; and distributions of seed material, equipment, hygiene kits, and special food for infants.
