Attacks by militias, including Boko Haram, mean people are fleeing from the largely agricultural and pastoral region of Diffa in eastern Nigeria. They are now facing a variety of challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic as well. Wherever possible, Welthungerhilfe is supporting small businesses, especially those run by women, to get their farming activities going again. The project also includes WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) activities, which focus on providing access to safe water and sanitation facilities, thereby making it possible to implement COVID-19 hygiene measures.
